DESCRIPTION:Reservations are now closed \nMonday\, December 9\, 2024Join us for the HDSA Elections Luncheon featuring Guest Speaker Magda Fernandez\, Chief of Police/Vice President of Public Safety Port of San Diego Harbor Police. \n$15 Member  /$50 Guests\, Emeritus and Associates. \nDeadline for reservations is by 5pm\, December 5\, 2024. \nPROGRAM:11amNew Member Orientation & Voting for 2025 HDSA Board of Directors12pm Luncheon/Guest Speaker - Magda Fernandez \nAbout Our Guest Speaker\, Magda FernandezChief of Police/Vice President of Public Safety Port of San Diego Harbor Police \nMagda Fernandez joined the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department as a recruit in 2001 and rose through the ranks to captain in 2021. The next year she was appointed Port of San Diego Harbor Police Chief/Vice President of Public Safety. Over the years\, she has led various departments\, including investigations and intelligence\, professional standards\, and training as well as other sections. Chief Fernandez also represented Harbor Police as a detective on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and helped establish the department’s Terrorism Liaison Officer program. \nShe has also served in the U.S. Coast Guard and\, earlier in her career\, as an emergency medical technician and a rescue diver with the Santa Cruz Search and Rescue Team. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her service\, an active member of the Mexican American Women’s National Association (MANA)\, and a graduate of their San Diego Latina Success Leadership Program (LSLP).
